Execution: The Discipline of Getting Things Done 0609610570 Larry Bossidy and Ram Charan
Authors: - Larry Bossidy & Ram Charan Synopsis: I found this to be an excellent book. Ever been in a meeting - great ideas come around - but nothing ever really happens? The text is specifically geared to CEO level executives. But in my opinion approximately 50 to 60% of it should be read by any program, project or managerial staff at all levels. Executing well is not just throwing a plan over the wall So good I have had to purchase it three times. (I keep giving away copies!) Large organization or small, you have plans, you have ideas, but the gap that appears between these ideas and the results are huge. The authors argue that execution is a discipline in its own right. Read it and I think you will agree.
Authors: Dennis G. Severance & Jacque Passino - University of Michigan Business School Published by Jossey-Bass - www.jossey-bass.com ISBN 0-7879-6384-4 Synopsis: It is generally accepted that there is no menu or formulae to ensure successful I/T strategic planing. But the authors do a good job of synthesizing 10 studied organizations into one fictitious example. They lay out a series of questions that they deem should be re-iterated at every status change of an I/T strategy as it moves from program to project management. Geared towards I/T executives and business technology executives.
