Canuck ObamaMania & A Constitutional Crisis

United States President Barack Obama made a very brief stop here in Ottawa last Thursday.
On his return to Air Force 1, President Obama made one of those undisclosed stops in a popular tourist area in Ottawa called the ByWard Market.
For those of you from outside Canada, just this December we Canadians had this interesting constitutional crises wherein Prime Minister Stephen Harper actually prorogued (cancelled) parliament due to excessive pressure from the opposition parties. It caused no end of vitriol and debate from one end of the country to the other.
You also have to know that President Obama’s inauguration was just about as widely watched here as it was in the States.
Your intrepid blogger has learned that it was very lucky that the Presidents visit was very short, and that not a very large number of Canadians were in the ByWard Market at the time of President Obama’s visit.
As apparently it was simply the lack of numbers in the ByWard Market at the time that aborted an acclamation of President Obama as Prime Minister of Canada
Can you imagine the Canadian constitutional crisis if a sitting United States President was carried on the shoulders of millions of Canadians and acclaimed as the Prime Minister of Canada?
