‘Someday’ Is Not In The Calendar

An article titled; How To Kill Your Business by Lisa Barone at Small Business Trends – good title eh?

Thought you would like it!

One short article that covers execution, procrastination, lack of focus, well I could go on, but for Managers in the small to Medium business space, just go read it.

It echo’s this old post I wrote titled; Good Enough?

In that post I argued that there is a massive, massive difference between using the term Good Enough as a cheap way of doing the minimum amount possible, and using the term as Lisa tells it;

We all suffer from this type of paralyzing perfection. The voice in our head that says it’s not ready yet, that it’s not good enough to go live. But at that rate, you’ll never take that next step. You’ll sit on the product until it’s not “new” anymore

The SMB Takeaway

I still deal with that regularly; ‘just have to finish..’ ‘Got first 2 complete but gotta tidy up…’

Sure Someday

So rather than take a full year to try and define and implement some massive structural change (that would most likely fail because in one year the world has changed) Good Enough says to start on one smaller part of the whole and got that process working Good Enough. Then slowly start working on process piece number 2 to get it “good enough”
